Blackberry bold 9700 not working?

hi i ran the battery down on my bb bold today, came home and charged it for 4hours didnt register it was charging and still wouldnt turn on. ive tried my friends bb battery in it and the red light came on and the screen went white but thats all? any1 that could help me out?
